Directed project management activities and consulting assignments including licensing and franchise development, market research, publishing, management training and consulting for firms launching or engaged in local, regional and national franchise and licensing expansion programs. Also assisted individuals, law firms and other business entities investigate, evaluate and negotiate license, franchise and intellectual property investments. Published four books on franchising and one book on trade secrets.
Established and launched the first interior door replacement company franchise. Responsibilities included site location, lease negotiations and build out of a 7,000 sq. ft. warehouse and showroom, business start up, hiring and supervising employees, production and quality control, management, marketing, financial control and franchisor-franchisee relations.
Organized all franchise department functions and instructed staff attorneys in the preparation of Franchise Offering Circulars, contracts, license agreements, filing registration applications, protecting intellectual property assets, and implementing a disclosure compliance program to manage legal documents, organize files and control dissemination of information.
Completed consulting projects for firms utilizing franchising and licensing to expand including: feasibility studies, strategic planning, drafting all legal documentation, filing registration applications, protecting trademarks, service marks and other intellectual property assets, editing operations manuals, developing training programs, field support programs, and marketing materials.

Have testified and rendered opinions as a franchise attorney expert witness on many occasions, including franchise litigation & arbitration matters, on numerous franchise, license and intellectual property issues.

Selected and retained as the premier U.S. franchise expert by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a specialized agency of the United Nations, Geneva, Switzerland, to speak at Singapore’s World Conference about franchising in Asian countries and developing uniform franchise regulations based on the U.S. regulatory model, September, 2007, hosted jointly by WIPO and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS).
Selected and retained as the premier U.S. franchise expert by the Jordan Intellectual Property Association to speak at their franchise symposium in Amman, Jordan in 2008.
Retained as the premier U.S. franchise expert by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a specialized agency of the United Nations, Geneva, Switzerland, in 2010 to help draft and edit a manuscript, “IN GOOD COMPANY Managing Intellectual Property Issues in Franchising,” that was published in 2012.
